Collection FAQs

Question 1

Can vinyl wall decals stick to painted concrete block walls in schools?

Accepted Answer

Yes! The Simple Stencil’s premium vinyl decals adhere beautifully to smooth and lightly textured surfaces, including painted concrete block walls. This makes them a favorite for transforming school hallways, gymnasiums, cafeterias, and classrooms without needing to hire a muralist.

We do recommend your concrete block be painted with several good quality coats of paint (as most school walls are). We also suggest you wipe the surface with a mixture of water and rubbing alcohol before placing your decal so that there is not any dust or cleanser residue left on surface that could hinder adhesive. We do include these instructions with your order.

Question 2

Does The Simple Stencil accept school purchase orders (POs) for bulk decor?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. We gladly accept school purchase orders. We have been working directly with educators, principals, and school districts since 2003 to streamline the purchasing process for classroom wall quotes, library graphics, and school mission statements.

Our purchase order submission process is made as simple as possible, and you can find all details about how to submit your approved purchase order (PO) on our dedicated purchase order information page.

Question 3

Are classroom wall quotes easy to remove at the end of the school year?

Accepted Answer

Yes, our wall decals are 100% removable. This makes them perfect for teachers who need to change their room themes annually or for schools that want to update their seasonal decor without damaging the drywall or repainting the walls.

To remove the decals, you can use a blow dryer or heat gun at a low setting to soften the vinyl before peeling it away from the surface. Because the adhesive is water based, and make exclusively for this purpose, no residue should remain on the wall.

Question 4

How do schools and tax-exempt organizations place an order without being charged sales tax?

Accepted Answer

We make ordering completely hassle-free for schools, churches, and non-profits. How sales tax is handled depends entirely on your shipping address:

Shipping OUTSIDE of Florida: By law, The Simple Stencil does not charge or collect sales tax on any orders shipped outside of our home state of Florida. No sales tax will be added to your final invoice or checkout total, meaning you do not need to submit a tax exemption form to us.
Shipping WITHIN Florida: If your organization is located in or shipping to a Florida address, we can easily remove the sales tax for you. Before placing your order, simply email a copy of your Florida Consumer's Certificate of Exemption to support@thesimplestencil.com. Please include the email address associated with your website account in the email, and our team will update your account to tax-exempt status.

💡 Quick Tip for Purchasing Agents: If you need a copy of our W-9 form or a formal price quote to submit to your district or board for approval before purchasing, please contact us at support@thesimplestencil.com and we will send it right over!

Question 5

Can we request a custom wall decal of our school mascot or motto?

Accepted Answer

Yes! In addition to our large catalog of educational quotes, we offer free custom design consultations. We can turn your specific school motto, core values, school mascot or any creative idea into premium, die-cut vinyl wall art tailored to your school's colors and font styles.

You can even send us an image of your wall, window, door or other surface you wish to place decal and we can provide a sketch free of charge so you can see a preview of the final results before you buy!

Question 6

Can library wall quotes and decals be applied directly to wooden or metal bookshelves, end panels, or glass windows?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Because space in a school library or media center is often filled with books, our premium matte vinyl decals are designed to adhere beautifully to alternative smooth surfaces beyond just drywall. Librarians frequently use our stencils to transform:

Wooden or metal bookshelf end panels (perfect for genre labeling, directional signs or reading quotes).
Glass partitions, windows, and study room doors (giving a sleek, etched-glass look).
Circulation desks, book return bins, and makerspace storage containers.

Our decals leave no sticky residue behind, meaning you can modernize your library or change your reading themes without damaging expensive school furniture or media equipment.

📚 Librarian Pro-Tip: If you are trying to match a specific reading theme, school color scheme, or want to create custom "Genrefication" signs (e.g., Graphic Novels, Sci-Fi, Biography) for your shelf ends, you can use our online Decal Designer or email us for a custom layout!

Question 7

How do custom library wall lettering displays and environmental typography improve student engagement compared to standard retail decals?

Accepted Answer

Standard retail decals and thin vinyl stickers frequently generate a distracting reflection under school lighting, peel prematurely, and leave a sticky adhesive residue upon removal. Our premium, professional institutional wall lettering is manufactured from a premium matte vinyl that eliminates glare, ensuring a crisp appearance that looks expertly hand-painted. This high-density visual upgrade transforms static, text-heavy school environments into highly motivating learning hubs, which directly helps lower student anxiety and improve focus.

Question 8

What structural school building surfaces are certified compatible with your custom library and classroom wall stencils?

Accepted Answer

Our commercial-grade wall quotes and typography graphics are designed for exceptional adherence across a broad matrix of school property options. They apply smoothly and sit completely flat on several common building materials:

Painted concrete block and traditional cinder block library walls that have been painted so they are non-porous.
Standard smooth or lightly orange-peeled school drywall layouts
Smooth wooden bookcases, end-cap panels, office furniture, and room dividers
Interior glass doors, workspace side-lites, windows, and administrative whiteboards. Every order arrives accompanied by a free professional squeegee tool and an explicit practice testing decal to ensure your facility crew can safely test surface variables before applying the final graphics.

Question 9

Is this customized inspirational typography safe for school walls, and what is your clean removal protocol?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our library wall lettering and school graphics are built explicitly to satisfy tough school facility guidelines and structural district mandates. The backing uses a specialized clean-peel formulation that holds securely for years of continuous high-traffic usage, yet releases cleanly when building renovations or room reassignments occur. The typography can be removed without causing paint failure, tearing drywall layers, or leaving behind any sticky adhesive residue, satisfying strict district infrastructure maintenance guidelines.

Question 10

What is the administrative procurement workflow for school districts looking to purchase via official Purchase Orders?

Accepted Answer

We have completely optimized our entire procurement pipeline to match the strict compliance demands of school business officials, purchasing agents, and municipal finance teams:

Request a free visual design sketch from our artists to confirm school color matches and custom text scales, if needed.
Obtain a copy of itemized shopping cart to present to school admin for Purchase Order generation and approval.

Once we have received, verified and approved the PO (within 24 business hours), expect rapid order manufacturing from our American facility, with free shipping across the USA on all orders totaling over seventy-five dollars.
